CERTAINBASS LIGHTWEIGHT

The CertainBass Lightweights and The Brotherhood of the Golden Screw

My personal bass is Elita #0001 which I made 6 years ago with a lightweight basswood body. At that time and for a long time thereafter, the availability of the lightweight bodies wasn't regular enough for me to offer them to the general public. Only a handful of customers have gotten them. It's all I play; all my personal basses are Lightweights. Just think, a Jazz or P style bass between one and two pounds lighter than a Fender. It will liberate your playing; it did mine.

So far, only a few people have them. In the photo below, the Sunburst bass on the left belongs to my website guy Bob, the one in the middle in Moontan belongs to George Potsos and the Piano Black on the right is my trusty Elita #0001. George has two, the one pictured and a Piano Black one with tortoise shell pickguard, rosewood fingerboard with dot inlay that is the surrogate to his (real) 1964 Fender Jazz. He tours with Devon Allman, Gregg Allman's son, and takes both basses with him at all times. If they come to you town, go see them, introduce yourself to George. You can get backstage simply saying you want to play his CertainBasses.

What is the Brotherhood of the Golden Screw, you ask? It's any of my Lightweights. If you look closely, you'll see one gold pickguard screw. This means any of these basses I can gig with and be perfectly happy. In fact, anyone in The Brotherhood of the Golden Screw can trade basses and not miss their regular bass. Ask me how your Lightweight can qualify you for membership in this exclusive club.

So, how do you get a Lightweight? Simply add $108 to the price of any CertainBass, and we'll build your bass centered around my favorite basswood bodies. Colors immediately available are Cherry Sunburst, Piano Black which is a CertainBass proprietary color, and Moontan, another CertainBass color that is reminiscent of what people call "vintage white," like an age-yellowed Olympic White. Custom finishes are available for extra charge and an extra wait time.

Whether you have back problems or just want to dance around the stage with abandon, the Lightweights are here for you now!
